Dobson Road Closures at Southern Avenue

  • Lead Dobson and Southern will have three upcoming closures for the final paving for the Southern Avenue Streetscape Improvement, Phase 2 project. The Dobson Road and Southern Avenue intersection will be closed starting at 8 p.m. Friday July 29 through 5 a.m. Monday, August 1. North and south bound traffic will be prohibited through the intersection except for emergency personnel. Eastbound Southern Avenue will be closed from Sycamore to the Tempe Canal from 8 p.m. Friday, July 29 to 8 a.m. Saturday morning. Westbound Southern Avenue from Sycamore to the Tempe Canal will be closed at 11 p.m. Saturday, July 30 through 11 a.m. Sunday, July 31. Detours routes will be set up to facilitate traffic movements.

When completed, Southern Avenue will be transitioned to four lanes (two in each direction), wider sidewalks and new landscaping behind the new curbs. New street amenities will include benches, street lighting, pedestrian lighting, trash receptacles, bike racks and traffic signals.
