Mesa, AZ - On Tuesday, Aug. 2, the City of Mesa Transportation Department is hosting a Regional School Crossing Guard Training Workshop for the East Valley. The training is a part of a regional effort by Maricopa Association of Governments to improve the safety at school crossings for both crossing guards and students. School crossing guards from the cities of Mesa, Tempe, Scottsdale, Chandler, Gilbert and school districts throughout Maricopa County have been invited to attend. Providing education and training to all school crossing guards in the region is an essential step to ensure that both the guards and the children in their care stay safe.
Visuals of the day include:
- Presentation from City of Mesa’s Fire and Medical Department on the Health and Welfare of Crossing Guards (9:10 a.m.)
- Crossing Guard Demonstration (9:40 a.m.)
- Police officers from Mesa, Chandler and Gilbert will discuss Crosswalk Traffic Laws (11:10 a.m.)
The training is Tuesday, Aug. 2, from 9 a.m. – noon. The workshop will take place in the Palo Verde Ballroom, Building B, at the Mesa Convention Center, 201 N. Center Street.
