Suit up as your favorite intergalactic character and head to the i.d.e.a. Museum August 19 for some cosplay fun. The upcoming adults-only Alien Party provides grown-ups a chance to explore the museum after dark and put their imaginations into hyper drive.

The Sci-Fi themed adult take-over of the museum will feature DJ Mike Wares, appetizers, dancing, a costume parade, prizes and many fun hands-on activities, including a chance to explore the current exhibition Sci-Fi: Fantasy to Reality. Pokémon may also make an appearance. Cosplay is encouraged but not required to attend.

“We’re providing a creative outlet for adults, who work hard every day and need a break for some fun,” said i.d.e.a. Museum Executive Director Sunnee O’Rork. “Our Alien Party lets our child within dig into the power of imagination, which isn’t just for playtime. Imagination unlocks so much innovation not only in works of art, from paintings to books, but also on the job by creating new technologies and in addressing work issues.”

While at the museum, adult guests can apply creative thinking and design principles to awesome hand-on activities. Build a new invention with Rigamajig; create a masterpiece using technology in iArt and dance to music in Soundscape. Plus, don’t miss the Alice in Wonderland-themed black light room.

The Sci-Fi: Fantasy to Reality exhibition – which ends Sept. 11 - focuses on art that celebrates science fiction and the innovations predicted in these stories. Visitors take on the role of a science fiction writer to create their own work of art. Activities focusing on futuristic fashion, transportation and design provide prompts for creating a work of art of your own.

Ticket prices for the Alien Party are $25 per person and $45 per couple through Aug. 15. At the door pricing is $30 per person and $55 per couple.
