The City of Mesa’s LAUNCHPOINT, the Mesa Technology Accelerator move to Downtown Mesa has triggered a surge in participation. LAUNCHPOINT relocated from its previous location in the southeast Gateway area to the Mesa Center for Higher Education at 245 W. 2nd St.

Following the move, LAUNCHPOINT has tripled its participation in a few short months by adding six new companies to the mix, bringing the total participating businesses to nine and increasing occupancy to more than 2,100 square feet of office and lab space. Also located at the Mesa Center for Higher Education are Wilkes University Mesa and select programs for Benedictine University-Mesa Campus.

“We are excited to bring LAUNCHPOINT to Downtown Mesa,” City of Mesa Mayor John Giles said. “It’s a great fit in our efforts to revitalize Mesa’s core as an important technology employment center for the East Valley.”

The Mesa Center for Higher Education provides LAUNCHPOINT with a modernized facility that offers participants office space, access to conference and classrooms with state-of-the-art furnishings, use of collaborative workspaces, a lounge area, phone and internet connectivity for a fee of $100-$250 per month. LAUNCHPOINT features outfitted science and engineering lab spaces for an additional fee and is also extending a collaborative workspace program pass for qualified participating companies. Moreover, the new location provides greater access to the Phoenix metro area, as well as regional partners and resources.

“LAUNCHPOINT continues to be an important program for us, as we strive to grow our technology base in Mesa,” Mesa Economic Development Director Bill Jabjiniak stated. “The new location is bringing renewed interest and momentum to a program that will become an important economic engine for our city.”

Part of the LAUNCHPOINT program includes training and events such as the recent “TechTalk” series hosted at LAUNCHPOINT. “We have held eight TechTalks thus far with excellent attendance and positive feedback,” Kelley Keffer, economic development project manager overseeing LAUNCHPOINT, said. “The TechTalk series will continue in the new year and we will unveil additional events, training opportunities, and a new website featuring resources for young companies.”
