Mesa welcomes Courtyard by Marriott hotel adjacent to Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport

Post Date:09/30/2015 11:25 AM

Mesa, AZ – A Courtyard by Marriott hotel will open October 8 next door to the Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport.

“Courtyard by Marriott is a great addition to the Gateway area and another sign of the growing success of southeast Mesa,” Mesa Mayor, and Airport Authority Board member John Giles said. “Travelers flying in to Gateway for business or pleasure will have a convenient place to stay with easy freeway access just outside the entrance to the airport.”

The hotel, located on Ray Road east of Power Road, is designed for business travelers, but will also accommodate families. Each of the 99 rooms will include a desk and hospitality cabinet with a microwave and refrigerator. The hotel will also feature a contemporary lobby space, conference center, business center, full-service restaurant, 24-hour “mini-mart,” and an outdoor pool and patio area.

“The opening of this hotel is another important step in the growth of this area and is more proof of the commitment the City Council has made to making Mesa a destination,” District 6 Councilmember Kevin Thompson said. “Having the Courtyard by Marriott brand open in one of the fastest growing locations in Greater Phoenix is a big win for the City, Marriott and the community as a whole.”

The hotel is being built by Sunridge Hotel Group, a Mesa-based hospitality development and management company. Sunridge will also manage the property. Richardson Design Partnership was the architect and Porter Brothers was the general contractor for the project.

“We are very excited to be opening this beautiful new Courtyard by Marriott hotel in the Mesa Gateway area. It will be the first hotel in Mesa located at Gateway Airport, and it will serve the needs of business as well as leisure travelers,” Sunridge Chairman and CEO Paul Welker said. “As the owner and developer of Marriott branded hotels in the greater Southwest, we are proud to partner with Marriott, which is the gold standard in the hospitality sector.”
