When a major event occurs, it is likely that business
opportunities may arise. These business opportunities may
include profit motives of humanitarian efforts. Consumers should
be very cautious in their donations and investments and to
research each opportunity by:
- Obtaining the names of the principals
- Obtaining the exact location (not a post office box) of
the business
- Researching the business through the local Better
Business Bureau, Secretary of State, and Attorney General
- Checking court records for public information regarding
the principals and business, and
- Consulting with a private attorney.
