Crime Prevention Officer
Karen Stegenga began her career in law enforcement with the Mesa
Police Department in 1997. She works closely with the community
and with the Superstition Division officers to help find
solutions to both residential and commercial problems.
She provides presentations on a wide variety of crime prevention
topics such as identity theft, computer/Internet safety, elder
abuse and personal safety. The "ID UR Bike"
and "Summer-izing Your Arizona Home" programs help
keep the senior
communities more secure.
Karen is an
Arizona Peace Officer Standards in Training (AZPOST) general
instructor and a Specialist Instructor in Elder Abuse. She is a member of the Arizona Crime Prevention
Association (ACPA), certified as a Crime
Prevention Officer through the International Society of Crime
Prevention Practitioners (ISCPP), and is a certified
CPTED (Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design)
Practitioner. She is also a member of the Maricopa Elder Abuse
Prevention Alliance and the Attorney General's Task Force
Against Senior Abuse.
