What is CERT?
The Community Emergency
Response Team (CERT) training provides
citizens with an opportunity to learn basic
emergency response skills to assist
themselves, their friends and family, and/or
their neighborhoods in case of an emergency.
This program is
one of four outreach programs under
President Bush's Citizen Corps initiative,
created after the tragic events of September
11, 2001.
The Citizen Corps
mission "is to harness the power of every
individual through education, training, and
volunteer service to make communities safer,
stronger, and better prepared to respond to
the threats of terrorism, crime, public
health issues, and disasters of all kinds."
CERT Training will truly help you be
prepared.
When emergencies
happen, CERT members can give critical
support to first responders, provide
immediate assistance to victims and organize
spontaneous volunteers at a disaster site.
CERT members can also help with
non-emergency projects that help improve the
safety of the community.
CERT Mission:
The Mesa CERT program's mission is
to ensure that disaster preparedness
education and information is made
available to the residents of Mesa
through training and community outreach
programs. Our purpose is to increase the
knowledge and preparedness of Mesa's
residents by teaching them how to deal
with natural or man-made disasters up to
72 hours or until help arrives to assist
them.
