On Sept. 15, 2011 Councilmember Finter addressed nearly 100 residents at the District 2 Building Strong Neighborhoods kickoff meeting.

Councilmember Finter worked with140 volunteers from the LDS Boulder Creek Stake on Saturday, September 24 at Countryside Park. The youth completed 8 projects in the District 2 Building Strong Neighborhood area including curb number painting, tape removal from sign and light posts, distributed fire safety information, yard and easement cleanups and park cleaning. They also wrote letters to US Troops that will be delivered via the USO.

An additional 210 LDS Boulder Creek Stake youth participated in District 6 cleanup projects and volunteer activities too!

Councilmember Alex Finter

Elected to the Mesa City Council in June of 2008, Alex Finter serves as the councilmember for District 2. In addition to serving on the Mesa City Council, Finter is a partner at Worldwide Investments LLC. Prior to joining Worldwide Investments, Finter spent 22 years as a firefighter in both Scottsdale and Mesa. His term on the Mesa City Council runs through 2012.

 

Extremely active on numerous boards and committees, Finter is the Vice President of the Mesa Public Safety Foundation, Chair of the Audit, Finance and Enterprise committee and a past Vice Chair of the Planning and Zoning board. He is a member of the Council Government Affairs committee, the Council Economic Development committee, the Maricopa Association of Governments-Human Services Coordinating committee and a member of the Citizens Corps. He is also a past member of the Human Relations Advisory Board and the Arizona Museum for Youth Friends board.

 

Finter has spent the majority of his life as a public servant, beginning his career in 1978 as a firefighter for the Scottsdale/Rural Metro Fire Department. In 1981 he joined the Mesa Fire Department, serving the city until 1999, including the final 11 years as a City of Mesa Fire Captain.
