Mesa Police Association and Officer
Assistance Fund help Kelly family with their first
Christmas without their Hero.
The Mesa Police Association and the Officer Assistance Fund
invited Councilmember Kavanaugh to share in a special event to
help Liz Kelly and her five children celebrate their first
Christmas without their hero - Mesa police officer Mark Kelly.
Officer Kelly lost his life earlier this year to Amyotrophic
lateral scleroisis (ALS), better known as Lou Gehrig's disease.
A Blue Santa and Mesa police officers helped to help make
the grieving family's Christmas special, by serving Christmas
dinner and providing gifts for the whole family. The
special event started out at the Target store at 1230 S.
Longmore on December 23, 2011.
2011 Cardon Children's Hospital Toy Drive
Councilmember Kavanaugh would like to thank the
residents and businesses in District 3 for donating
over 600 toys for the children at Cardon
Children's Medical Center.

The EVIT student council donated $1,000 to purchase toys for
Councilmember Kavanaugh's Toy Drive. Pictured are members
of the student council shopping with Councilmember Kavanaugh at
Wal-Mart to pick out the new toys.
