Shea Joachim

Shea joined the Mesa Economic Development team in 2007.  During his tenure, Shea has been active with business attraction and business retention activities which have resulted in over $500 million in capital investment and the creation of over 1,500 jobs in Mesa.  Shea has also been engaged in many significant projects in Mesa including Central Mesa Light Rail Extension project and the Central Main Street Planning effort.  Shea provides clients with expertise and experience in project management, negotiations, real estate development, contract management, business financing, entrepreneurial development, impact analysis, and tax incentive analysis.

Currently, Shea serves as the Foreign Trade Zone administrator for the City of Mesa and manages Foreign Trade Zone #221. He also oversees the management of the Arizona Laboratories for Security and Defense Research (AZLabs) and LaunchPoint, the Mesa Technology Accelerator.

Prior to working for the City of Mesa, Shea spent five years in the financial services industry in California and Arizona. Shea earned an MBA from the W.P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University and obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Economics with a minor in Philosophy from Pomona College.
