Re-Drill of City Well No. 14
Project Number 05-056-004
11/19/2012
The City of Mesa has awarded this project to
Zim Industries Inc.
The contractor is doing final clean up
This project started end of June 2012 and will finish up at the
end of 2012.
The City of Mesa maintains and
operates numerous groundwater wells throughout the City to
provide drinking water for Mesa citizens. This project
will replace an existing well located in downtown Mesa, which
has deteriorated and become unusable.
City Well No. 14 was originally
drilled in 1964. In 2007, a video examination was
completed on the existing well and it was determined that the
well casing had deteriorated to the point that the well could
not remain in service. This project will properly abandon
the existing well and drill a new well on the adjacent lot (652
S. Horne) to the south that was purchased in 2010.
Equipping of the well for pumping into the water system will be
completed with a future project once the well is drilled and the
well pumping rate is determined.
The recommended total award of this
project is $1,059,454.00, which consists of a low bid of
$963,140.00 plus an additional $96,314.00 (10% allowance for
change orders). This project will be funded from the FY
11/12 Water Bond Capital Program.
