Transportation Management Center (TMC) Video Wall
Replacement
Project Number 10-419-001
02/04/2013
The City of Mesa has awarded this project to
Logicalis.
The contractor is removing the old system.
Construction on this project
is scheduled to begin at the end of October 2012 and last
approximately two months.
This project will replace the
existing video information display wall at the Transportation
Management Center (TMC), located in the City’s Transportation
Building at 300 E. Sixth Street. The TMC is the hub of the
City’s Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) network and
enhances the City’s ability to optimize surface transportation
operations.
An important feature of the TMC is
the video information display wall which can display real-time
information from a variety of sources including, but not limited
to, the City’s traffic signal network management system, traffic
cameras, digital maps, freeway incidents and/or lane
restrictions, special events, and so forth. In addition to its
more technical uses, the video wall provides an effective
communications platform allowing City staff to more easily
coordinate regionally with groups such as the Arizona Department
of Transportation (ADOT), local and neighboring public safety
agencies, the news media, the general public, and other
stakeholders.
The existing video display wall was
installed in 2003 when the TMC began operations and has now
reached the end of its useful service life. This proposed
project will implement the planned life-cycle replacement of the
video display wall. The new system offers improved video image
quality, lower maintenance requirements, and related benefits
from the advances in technology that have occurred since 2003.
The total award for this project is
$251,619.47, comprised of the lowest bid of $228,744.97, plus
$22,874.50 (10% change order allowance). The project funding is
available from the FY 12/13 Transportation Bond Capital Program.
