Project Updates



The City of Mesa selected Garney Construction as the Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR) for this project.  During construction, your contact for Garney Construction is Shane O'Brien at (480) 213-8859. 

In case of inclement weather or equipment breakdown, scheduled work may be canceled and rescheduled.


Two out of three bore pits and tunneling operations are completed on Lindsay Road (west side) south of the southernmost driveway near the Wal-Mart shopping plaza and the other under the McKellips Road and Lindsay Road intersection.  Boring crews are in the process of boring for the third and last pit on Lindsay Road, north of the SRP Canal.  Crews will begin excavating and installation of the 72-inch water line in Lindsay between Hermosa Vista Drive and McKellips Road.  


Traffic Restrictions:

Traffic is currently switched to the east side of Lindsay Road from Hermosa Vista Drive to Hope Street with one lane in each direction.  Please adhere to the posted speed limit while traveling through the construction area.  Left turns will be prohibited in various locations throughtout the duration of the project.



2/25/14 through May 2014 - Northbound to westbound and southbound to eastbound left turns will be prohibited at the intersection of Lindsay Road and McKellips Road.  Westbound to southbound and eastbound to northbound left turns will be allowed during this time. 


Project Schedule


Construction began January 13, 2014, and will last approximately one year. 


Project Details


The City of Mesa plans to construct improvements to its water transmission system to modify the method of delivering water from the Val Vista Water Treatment Plant.  The first phase of this project includes installation of a new 72-inch water transmission main along Lindsay Road from the Val Vista Water Treatment Plant at McDowell Road to Brown Road.  Also included is the installation of a new 60-inch water transmission main along Brown Road from Lindsay Road to 24th Street.


Project Funding

The recommended total award for the GMP No. 1 is $3,315,878.41 based on the material cost of $3,157,979.44 plus an additional $157,898.97 (5% contingency allowance for change orders).  This project is funded by the voter approved 2010 Water Bond Fund.
