Project Updates

 

A public meeting was conducted on February 11, 2014, to gather public feedback on the park planning process.

 

 

Project Schedule

Construction is estimated to begin Fall 2014 and estimated to be completed in the Fall 2015. 

Project Details

The City of Mesa will be installing new ball fields at the West Mesa Sports Complex (Kleinman Park - north and formerly Powell Junior High School - south). This project will include the installation of four fenced and lighted softball fields at on the north side. These 300- foot fields will feature skinned infields and will support 60-foot, 70-foot, and 80-foot base pads. The parking will be expanded, the playground will be relocated on site, and the current restroom building will be renovated. The improvements on the south side of the complex include four fenced and lighted Little League fields. Two of these 225-foot fields will feature skinned infields and two will have turf infields. The Little League fields will support 60-foot and 70-foot base pads. A new restroom/concession building and new parking will be constructed to serve the new fields. The existing track and field will remain. All eight fields will be equipped with backstops, covered dugouts, fenced "bullpen" warm-up area.

 

Project Funding

This project is funded through the voter-approved 2012 Parks Bond Program.
