Welcome to the Mesa Fire Department
Welcome to the Mesa Fire Department. The men
and women of Mesa Fire are dedicated to providing
the highest level of service possible to our
external customers, while trying our best to support
the members who provide service, our internal
customers.
Mesa is the third largest city in Arizona and the
40th largest in the nation. Mesa is a
wonderful location to live and raise a family,
operate a business, or just enjoy the beautiful
weather and hospitality.
The people who live and work in Mesa are very proud
of their Fire Department. The Mesa Fire
Department is one of only 70 plus Accredited Fire
Departments internationally. The 471 person
Department protects a population in excess of over
453,000 spread over 128 square miles. There
are 17 Fire Stations covering the city. These
include 18 paramedic engine companies, and 8
paramedic ladder companies that are constantly
staffed with four firefighters, two of which are
paramedics, 24 hours a day. The Department
responded to over 61,000 emergency calls in 2005 and
provided an average code 3 (lights and sirens)
travel response time of under four minutes.
Certain fire companies are specially trained and are
part of the special operations response that include
Hazardous Materials, Technical Rescue, Dive Team,
Aircraft Rescue Firefighting and Bike teams.
The Mesa Fire Department provides a full range of
services beyond emergency response, including:
Fire Prevention, Fire and Life Safety Education and
other Public Safety Educations programs. All
of the programs are coordinated by our dynamic
support staff and administrators.
These services are provided to our citizens and
visitors throughout the City that contribute to a
safer place to live, visit, and do business.
