As the City's Information Technology Department, we are committed to providing secure, proven, innovative technologies that enhance operational efficiencies while providing convenient access to government information and services for citizens, visitors and businesses. 

City of Mesa named a top digital city!
The City of Mesa has been selected as the seventh best large digital city of its size according to a survey conducted by the Center for Digital Government. The 2008 Digital Cities Survey examined and assessed how city governments are utilizing information technology to operate and deliver quality service to their customers and citizens. Mayors, chief information officers and city managers at over 300 of the nation's cities were invited to participate. Survey questions focused on implementation and adoption of online service delivery; planning and governance; and the infrastructure and architecture that make the transformation to digital government possible.

The Center for Digital Government is a national research and advisory institute on information technology policies and best practices in state and local government.

Awards for 2008-2009!

Mesa was recently named as a finalist in the Best of the Web Awards for City Portals. In addition, the city won an honorable mention in the government internalBest of the Web! category for the automated web application for PC cycle replacement.

 

The Best of the Web Award is a national program that recognizes the most innovative, user-friendly state and local government portals.

Servers!The City of Mesa's Information Technology Department (ITD) provides the technology leadership, system implementation and ongoing support for a broad range of technologies used by City departments to provide quality services to our citizens, visitors and businesses.   Technology services include:

Application Development & Support Services

A broad range of business applications, software and database systems are used to deliver City services, including Customer Relationship Management systems (CRM), Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Content & Document Management, Public Works, GIS, Judicial, License and Permitting, Community and Human Services, and several Public Safety applications.  Application services include system implementation, development, enhancements and support.

Desktop!Infrastructure Development & Support Services

The City's technology infrastructure consists of the physical hardware and systems needed to support the City's computing environment and applications, includes data network, telephone and physical layer connectivity, and our desktop, distributed, mainframe, and storage platforms.  Infrastructure services include system implementation, development, enhancements and support.  In addition, data operations, security, and asset management are all completed in this area.

Enterprise Services

Departments receive technical assistance and other customer support by Help Desk and Customer Service staff, as well as project management services through our Project Office.  In addition, IT purchases ranging from the acquisition of basic commodities to formal procurement of IT applications and IT infrastructure, accounting services, department budget preparation and monitoring are all completed in this area.   

Training!Administration

Administration includes the internal services needed to support the delivery of information technology, including employee relations, policy and facility management, and administrative support.
