Holiday Accruals
Eligible City of Mesa employees enjoy ten (10) paid
eight (8)-hour holidays each year. The holidays
observed are:
- New Year's Day
- Martin Luther King Jr./Civil Rights Day
- President's Day
- Memorial Day
- Independence Day
- Labor Day
- Veteran's Day
- Thanksgiving Day
- Day after Thanksgiving
- Christmas Day
Probationary full-time and regular full-time City
employees are eligible to be absent with pay for
eight (8) hours on any City holiday unless required
to work to maintain essential City services.
Benefited part-time employees shall receive four (4)
hours of holiday pay for all holidays designated in
the Human Resources Rules.
In addition, benefited part-time employees who work
on a City designated holiday will receive one and
one-half (1-1/2) times the employee's pay at the
current range and step for each hour worked on the
holiday.
Seasonal and non-benefited part-time employees who
work on City paid holidays will be paid at one and
one-half (1-1/2) times the employee's pay at the
current range and step for each hour worked on the
holiday.
Probationary full-time and regular full-time City
employees working a ten (10) hour schedule shall
receive eight (8) hours of holiday pay for holidays
not worked, and may take two (2) hours of vacation
leave for that day.
All benefited part-time employees shall receive four
(4) hours holiday pay for all holidays.
