Love Your Block is a tested, high-impact service strategy in which community members are engaged in revitalizing their neighborhoods one block at a time.  Through Love Your Block Mesa, the Mayor’s Office, in partnership with Cities of Service, Mesa City Council and City Manager’s Office, will draw on the strong tradition of service already present within our community. Residents will contribute in building their community, assisting other residents and maintaining quality neighborhoods through volunteer supported activities. The Mayor’s Office will also partner with HandsOn Greater Phoenix, city departments and local community groups to:

  • Build on the culture of service within our community
  • Recruit, train and manage volunteers
  • Identify neighborhoods and residents in need of assistance

Here's How it Works:
Residents, community groups, volunteers and others throughout Mesa are invited to submit applications for Love Your Block through the Neighbors Helping Neighbors Program.  The Neighbors Helping Neighbors Program is a means of assisting Mesa residents who, due to limited financial resources and/or physical limitations are experiencing difficulties maintaining the exterior of their homes. This program also assists neighborhoods in completing community enhancement projects such as clean ups and painting projects that improve the look of the neighborhood.

Applications for assistance are currently being accepted for the following volunteer based projects to transform neighborhood blocks:

  • Volunteer-based reporting of graffiti in neighborhoods for removal.
  • Clean up and debris removal for alleys, canals, easements, etc. and landscaping clean up for residents in need.
  • Exterior home painting for residents that are physically and/or financially unable to complete the work on their own.
  • Painting of common neighborhood areas, which can include wall painting and community parks

Selected applications will receive support in the form of supplies, materials and key City resources such as volunteer recruitment and planning as feasible.

The City of Mesa is grateful to Cities of Service for its investment in Love Your Block Mesa and its national commitment volunteer strategies that target community needs.
