April is Valley Bike Month!
It's time to ride! April is Valley Bike Month and the
perfect time to be outside. Save money on gas, reduce air
pollution and stay healthy by riding your bike to work, school,
on errands or just for fun. In celebration of Valley Bike Month,
the City of Mesa is having two events for bike riders.
The Great Arizona Bicycle Festival
The first Great Arizona Bicycle Festival,
featuring El Tour de Mesa, is a celebration of all things bike
on Apr. 14 from 8 a.m. - 3 p.m. During the festival enjoy the
Great Arizona Bike Swap, Downtown Historic Bicycle Tour, Kids
Zone and Bicycle Safety Rodeo along with MACFest, health fair,
live music, food and more. Bring your bike to ride
through the festival because downtown streets will be closed for
bicycles, scooters, roller skates and other non-motorized forms
of transportation. Free valet bicycle parking will be available
until 4 p.m. For more information go to
www.azbikefest.org.

Bike2Work Day
On Wednesday, Apr. 18 join the City of Mesa in
celebrating Bike2Work Day. Stop by the north entrance of Mesa
City Plaza while biking to work or school for an Earth Day Expo
and pancake breakfast/smoothie sale benefitting
WeCycleUSA, whose
mission is to help kids and adults in need through the recycling
of used bicycles while promoting the use of bicycles as an
environmentally friendly form of transportation. The Expo is
from 6 a.m. to 8 a.m. If we are not on your route please ride
safely and wear a helmet.
