The City of Mesa has again been named a
Playful City USA!

Kaboom! is a non-profit organization dedicated to creating playspaces throughout the country. Playful City USA is a national recognition program honoring cities and towns across the nation committed to taking action for play. In 2010, KaBOOM! recognized 118 cities in 36 states for their commitment to play!

Mesa is committed to being a fun, family-friendly community offering recreational opportunities to citizens of all ages and interests. Take part in some of Mesa's many offerings -

57 Parks and 133 Basins		More than 2,000 acres of open space for Mesa residents to play and have fun!
71 Multipurpose Athletic Fields		Baseball, softball, soccer... east to west and everywhere in between, there are fields located throughout the City.
Eight specialty sports complexes		Our sports complexes offer areas for local teams and traveling tournaments to gather to play baseball, softball and soccer.
Two municipal Golf Courses		Dobson Ranch Golf Course (18 holes) voted best municipal course in Arizona Riverview Golf Course (9 holes) one of the Valley's most challenging 9 hole courses
Recreation Centers		From the Red Mountain Multigenerational Center to neighborhood rec centers offering afterschool activities, Mesa is home to five recreation centers, with more than 134,000 square feet of space.
Swimming Pools and Aquatics Complexes		Our nine swimming pools throughout the City hold more than 5 million gallons of water! Enjoy splash pads, the Flowrider, swimming lessons and more!
Major League Baseball		Hohokam Stadium, spring training home of the Chicago Cubs, hosts more than 150,000 guests each March. Other baseball events, festivals and private functions are held throughout the year.
Wheels Courts		Two wheels courts offer skating enthusiasts areas to grind, carve and catch air!
Tennis Facilities		Advantage-In! Twenty courts between Kleinman Park and Gene Autry Tennis Complex* allow tennis players to get that ace shot! *Gene Autry Tennis Complex is owned by the City of Mesa, but privately managed
Concerts, Festivals and Special Events		Whether they're held at one of our expansive parks, the 4,950 capacity Mesa Amphitheatre or Hohokam Stadium, the City of Mesa hosts concerts and festivals throughout the year, attracting both residents and visitors.
Recreation Programs		From after-school activities to speciality classes, the City offers something for everyone! Learn to dance, climb a rock wall, try yoga, or play ball - whatever your interest - we have an activity for you!
