Park Rangers
Mesa's Park Ranger Program began training its
first rangers in 1988 and the newly created ranger program hit the parks in
1989.
Mesa Park Rangers have a variety of enforcement authority including
the authority to issue warnings, parking tickets,
criminal citations for park rules violations, and to
eject park rules violators from parks for 24 hours.
Did you know that Mesa Park Rangers
keep Mesa's parks safe and secure and:
- Assist visitors and deter negative activity
- Patrol facilities daily during peak usage times
- Patrol 60+ parks and 110+ retention basins throughout Mesa
- Secure and close park gates and restrooms
each night
- Monitor and secure off-leash and on-leash dog areas
- Facilitate operation of Mesa ball field lighting
- Check park reservations and resolve conflicts
- Inspect playgrounds and report maintenance needs
- Respond to citizen calls and concerns
- Secure and close the City of Mesa Cemetery
daily
- Respond to facility alarm calls
- Participate in neighborhood meetings
- Monitor undeveloped park sites
- Team with Mesa Police to ensure appropriate park use
