Father Arrested For Abusing 6-month-old Son
November 12, 2007
On
November 11, 2007 Oslando Ochoa-Quintero (pictured at right) was
arrested on suspicion of child abuse. The investigation began on
October 18, 2007 when uniformed patrol officers responded to a
local hospital to investigate numerous suspicious injuries found
by hospital staff on a 6-month-old baby. The investigation
revealed that the baby had multiple fractured ribs in various
stages of healing, a fractured skull and a broken clavicle that
appeared to have already healed.
The parents originally took the baby to the hospital because his
lower extremities were not functioning. Doctors quickly
discovered the injuries to the baby and immediately contacted
the police. Investigators were disturbed to find out that
Ochoa-Quintero had shaken the baby on numerous occasions since
June of 2007. Ochoa-Quintero admitted to having an anger problem
and to shaking the baby several times in the past. The mother
reported that she did not notify the authorities about
Ochoa-Quintero’s criminal behavior because it had caused fights
between them.
Ochoa-Quintero was booked on five counts of Child Abuse, a
class four felony in Arizona. Ochoa-Quintero’s bond amount is
unknown. Child Protective Services has been actively involved in
the investigation, providing care for the baby while his
injuries heal.
