Public Assistance Requested To Identify Attempted Kidnapper
September 26, 2008
The Mesa Police Department is requesting assistance to identify
an Hispanic male who attempted to kidnap a teenage female in
Mesa.
On August 19, 2008 at approximately 3:00 p.m., a 17-year-old
female was exiting Fiesta Mall in the area of Southern and Alma
School when she noticed a male driving in the east parking lot.
The victim reported the driver caller out to her, but she could
not hear him. He proceeded to follow the victim to the area of
Westwood and 8th Avenue. As the victim was approaching her
residence, the driver was now parked by her walking path. The
suspect walked up to her, grabbed her by the arm and began
pulling her toward his vehicle. While the victim was yelling for
help, the suspect grabbed her other arm and attempted to force
her into the vehicle. At the same time, the victim kneed the
suspect between the legs, broke free, and immediately ran toward
her apartment complex, where she called 9-1-1.
The suspect fled in an unknown direction. The suspect and
vehicle are described as:
- A dark-skinned Hispanic male appearing to be in his late
20s to early 30s, 5' 9" to 5' 11", 160 to 200 pounds, black
or brown eyes, with thick, greasy black hair. He was wearing
a black shirt and blue jeans with paint or plaster stains on
them.
- A two-door Ford while extended cab truck, tinted
windows, long bed with a box in the bed placed closer to the
cab.
