November 16, 2008
This morning at approximately 2:30 a.m., a patrol officer in the
area of Country Club and Main Street heard several gun shots
coming from the area of Main Street and Robson. Officers
immediately drove to the area and found large crowds of people
and vehicles leaving Club Cabo which is located at 30 S. Robson.
Officers were not able to locate anything initially and no one
attempted to stop or contact officers. Officers then heard
additional gunshots in the area of Sirrine and 1st Avenue and
proceeded to that location to investigate.
When they arrived at Sirrine and 1st Avenue, officers located a
1999 Chevy truck stopped in the roadway. The truck had been
struck multiple times by bullets and there were numerous shell
casings in the roadway. There were five occupants inside the
truck during this incident. The driver was shot and is listed in
extremely critical condition. The front passenger received fatal
gunshot wounds and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The
other three occupants were not struck by gunfire and are
currently cooperating with detectives in this case.
Officers were able to locate the first shooting scene near the
parking lot of the Subway at Main and Robson, where numerous
shell casings were found. There was a witness who did not see
the shooting, but described two vehicles leaving the Subway
right after the first shots. These may not be involved, but were
described as:
- Vehicle 1: Green Honda Civic (with no hood)
- Vehicle 2: Beige, white or gold Nissan Altima
