Mesa Public Safety Foundation Hosts Annual Golf Tournament
April 11, 2008
The Mesa Public Safety Foundation, a non-profit organization who
actively supports the Mesa Police Department and Mesa Fire
Department, is hosting their 31st annual Cops & Robbers Golf
Tournament at Longbow Golf Club in East Mesa on Saturday, April
12, 2008.
The golf tournament began in 1977 and was originally names the
Beat City Hall Golf Tournament. The mayor and city officials
would post a golf score and participants of the tournament would
compete. Some time after, the Mesa Public Safety Foundation
incorporated the tournament and named it Cops & Robbers. Today,
the tournament solicits corporate and individual sponsors. Over
the past 31 years, the tournament has raised significant funds
which has allowed the Foundation to assist many police and fire
personnel, including their families.
Since 1978, the Mesa Public Safety Foundation has been dedicated
to honoring police, fire, and other public safety employees. The
annual golf tournament is a great aid to successfully complete
the Foundation's goals.
President of the Mesa Public Safety Foundation, Mr. Milt Lee,
stated, "Our Foundation is solely operated by volunteers and is
committed to assisting the public safety community. We are very
proud of that."
