Dobson Night Out Focuses On Education and Enforcement
June 13, 2008
The Mesa Police Department's Dobson Patrol Division is set to
host a criminal enforcement and educational operation known as
Dobson Night Out. With school out and the summer months in full
motion, the need to address juvenile crime related activity is
very important. In addition to the enforcement aspect of the
operation, we also recognize the need to provide education to
juveniles and their parents regarding the various laws
pertaining to those who are under age.
The operation will take place on June 13 and 14 between the
hours of 2:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. Uniformed patrol officers,
street crimes officers, detectives, and crime prevention
officers will participate in the operation. A mobile command
post will be set up on the northwest corner of Country Club and
Southern Avenue in Mesa. Crime prevention officers will be
available to speak to parents and provide crime prevention
literature related to juveniles. The command post will also be
utilized for operational briefings.
The enforcement aspect of the operation will involve high
profile patrol within the Dobson Division's working boundaries.
Patrol officers will pay close attention to parks and high
density areas where juveniles are known to gather. Real time
crime analysis will be distributed to officers and detectives
working in the area to help direct their crime crime fighting
efforts.
The Dobson Patrol Division is located at 2505 S. Dobson Road.
The division services 13.6 square miles and is home to over
90,000 culturally diverse residents. The officers answer an
average of 7,389 monthly calls for service from a regional
shopping mall, community college, hospital, apartment complexes,
single-family homes, and one of the state's largest high
schools.
