Fight Against Auto Theft Scheduled To H.E.A.T. Up
In Mesa
October 23, 2008
Temperatures at night have been a bit chilly, but the Mesa
Police Department wants to warm things up by turning up the
H.E.A.T., in an effort to reduce your chances of becoming a
victim.
Attend a H.E.A.T. event to have your vehicle identification
number (VIN) etched on your vehicle windows for free and learn
more about the free Watch Your Car program. The H.E.A.T.
program's primary focus is to help Mesa residents keep their
vehicles from being stolen. Since the program's inception and
the implementation of other preventative programs by the Mesa
Police Department, Mesa has seen a significant reduction in auto
thefts.
Participation in the Watch Your Car program enables officers to
pull over enrolled vehicles if they are seen driving during the
peak theft hours of 1:00 am to 5:00 am.
Vehicle owners who attend the event and participate in the VIN
etching or sign up for the Watch Your Car program will receive a
free steering wheel lock (while supplies last) for their
vehicle.
The H.E.A.T. event will be held on Thursday, October 23, 2008
from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm at the Mesa Police Central Station, 120
North Robson. Free child safety seat inspections will also be
available.
