Early Morning Home Invasion Leaves One Victim With Gunshot

Investigators responded to an early morning shooting at a Mesa
apartment home located at 510 S. Extension. Police received the
911 call shortly after 4:00 am. Uniformed patrol officers
responded to the scene and located a 22-year-old female in the
residence that had an apparent gunshot would. The victim was
transported to a local hospital and is expected to survive.
Investigators believe at the time of the incident, the apartment
was occupied by three males and the female victim.
At this point in the investigation it appears that one to three
black males may have forced entry into the apartment. At least
one suspect discharged a firearm in the residence, striking the
victim in a non-vital area. Motive is unclear and it has not
been determined if property was taken from the residence.
