February 26, 2008
On
February 25, 2008, investigators arrested 21-year-old Oscar
Bobby Grey of Mesa in connection with the February 19 robbery of
a north Mesa tobacco store.
On February 19, 2008 at 7:14 pm, Grey allegedly entered the
Tobacco and Pipes Plus store located at 1057 N. Mesa Drive armed
with a gun. He pointed the gun at a store employee and demanded
money from the cash register. After taking an undisclosed amount
of cash from the store, Grey fled the scene in a car being
driven by an unidentified male suspect.
Investigators discovered that Grey was dropped off at an
apartment complex near the scene of the crime. He shed some of
his clothing and borrowed a cell phone from an uninvolved third
party. He allegedly called his girlfriend for a ride home.
Witnesses later saw Grey getting into his girlfriends SUV at the
apartment complex. Investigators discovered items of evidence at
the apartment complex linking Grey to the armed robbery.
During a post arrest interview, Grey admitted to the robbery.
Grey was subsequently booked on suspicion of Armed robbery. As
of this writing, his bond and release status are unknown.
