Female Suspect From Police Shoot-Out Charged With
Co-Defendants Death

Sawajee M. Chiquette of Mesa is being charged with the murder of
27-year-old Jaime Martinez under the felony murder statute.
Martinez was shot and killed by police shortly after 9:00 p.m.
on February 10, 2008 after he and Chiquette were suspected of
committing armed robberies in Tempe and Mesa and then engaging
police officers in a gun battle in a West Mesa residential
neighborhood.
Chiquette was arrested on February 10, 2008 and charged with two
counts of Armed Robbery, two counts of Aggravated Assault and
one count of Felony Flight from Law Enforcement. She was being
held at the Maricopa County Estrella Jail in Phoenix on an
$18,000 bond for the Mesa charges and an unknown bond amount on
the Tempe armed robbery charges. Chiquette now faces charges of
First Degree Murder.
