Local Doctor Arrested For Fondling Patients

Friday, June 5, 2009, the Mesa Police Department arrested a
local doctor for two counts of Sex Abuse. The case involved Dr.
Richard J. Lewis, 53, who is accused of fondling two different
female patients during medical exams.
The first event occurred on October 30, 2008, when Lewis is
accused of fondling a patient's breasts during a pre-surgery
exam. The second event was on June 4, 2009, when Lewis was
performing surgery. As the procedure was finishing, the patient
awoke to sharp pain in her breasts. As she became more awake
from the sedation, she realized that Lewis had his hands under
her gown and he was squeezing her breasts.
Based on the nature of the crimes, there is the possibility that
there may be other victims who have not reported similar events.
