Community Policing Advisory Board Kicks Off Public Awareness
Campaign
February 26, 2009
On Thursday, February 26, 2009, the Mesa Police Department
Superstition District Community Policing Board will kick off
their new public awareness campaign.
The Mesa Police Department is working in partnership with the
City of Mesa Solid Waste Division. This campaign is aimed at
crime prevention and awareness throughout the city through the
use of signage on solid waste trucks. The signs, purchased
through grant funds, advise citizens to "Lock It or Lose It,"
referring to their homes and vehicles. The signs will be
displayed on five trucks which will be traveling through
different areas of the city.
The Superstition District Community Policing Board is made up of
Mesa residents and business owners. The board works with
Commander Andrew Alonzo, the Superstition District Commander, by
looking at the district's crime trends or issues. When issues
are identified, the board works on ways to address these
problems.
