Senior Police Academy Begins October 14

With classes scheduled to begin Wednesday, October 14, the Mesa
Police Department is accepting enrollment into its Senior Police
Academy.
Since 2004, the Mesa Police Department's Senior Police Academy
has provided seniors in our community with an inside look at law
enforcement. The Academy is designed to provide seniors with an
understanding of the operations and resources of the Mesa Police
Department. The goal of the academy is to provide a greater
awareness and understanding of law enforcement's role in our
community through classes on 911, SWAT, K9, Hostage
negotiations, and Diversity to name a few.
Classes meet on Wednesday mornings from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30
a.m. at the Red Mountain District, 4333 E. University Drive in
mesa. Classes will run through March 2010.
Potential candidates must meet the following criteria:
- 60 years of age or older
- Reside or employed in the City of Mesa
- No prior felony arrests No misdemeanor arrests within
one year of application
