Mesa Police "Shop With A Cop" Event
December 2, 2010
On Saturday, December 4, 2010 employees from the Mesa Police
Department will partner with the Target Corporation to provide a
brighter holiday for some disadvantaged children in the Mesa
area.
"Shop with a Cop" is a nation-wide program that partners law
enforcement officers with needy children during a special
holiday shopping trip. The "Shop with a Cop" program will
provide 40 children with a $50 Target gift card to purchase
clothing or holiday gifts.
The children who benefit from "Shop with a Cop" have been
identified as in need of financial services by the Mesa Public
Schools. Franklin, Adams, Washington and Roosevelt elementary
schools each provided ten students who fit the criteria of the
Target Grant.
"Shop with a Cop" is an interactive opportunity for police and
kids to get to know one another and to experience positive
contact with an officer. Often, children have negative exposure
to law enforcement based on a domestic situation or other event
bringing police into their lives.
The event will be held Saturday, December 4, from 7:00 am to
9:00 am at Target, 1230 S. Longmore, in Mesa. A grant check will
be presented by Target to the Mesa Police Department.
If you have any questions about this event, please contact crime
prevention officer Jerry Quarles, at 480-644-2539.
