Communications Supervisor Wins 'Supervisor Of The Year'
July 15, 2010
Mesa Police Communications Supervisor, Laurie Russo, has been
selected as the Supervisor of the Year by the Arizona Chapter of
the Association of Public Safety and National Emergency Number
Association (APCO-NENA). Every year, communications personnel
from around the state are nominated by their agencies based on
their performance and leadership skills. Laurie has proven time
and again that she is a top level supervisor and able to assist
in every aspect of running the dispatch center. When needed, she
will jump into action on the phones or radios to ensure the
safety of our community is never left unattended. From the
nominations, APCO-NENA selects one person to receive its highest
honor. We are very pleased that Laurie is this year's recipient.
Laurie has been with the Mesa Police Department for 11 years.
Prior to Mesa, she began her public safety career as a
dispatcher in the Chicago area when she was 19 years old. For
Laurie, public safety communication has certainly become a way
of life. The Mesa Police Department and the City of Mesa are very
lucky to have Laurie in the communications center ensuring that
things run smoothly when the community calls for public safety
service. Congratulations to Laurie!
