Mesa Police Investigate Homicide at Circle K
August 28, 2011
On August 28, 2011 at approximately 1:50 a.m., the Mesa Police
Department responded to a shooting call in the parking lot of
the Circle K at 1961 S. Val Vista Drive. Once on scene, officers
located a 30-year-old male with a gunshot wound lying in the
parking lot in front of the convenience store. Lifesaving
efforts were made by paramedics; however, the gunshot wound
proved to be a fatal injury.
The investigation has revealed the victim arrived at the Circle
K, entered the store and purchased a drink. After exiting the
store, the victim was approached by two male subjects that had
arrived in a vehicle. That vehicle could only be described as a
light colored four-door sedan. The victim and one of the
subjects got into a physical fight in the parking lot. It is
unknown if there is a previous relationship between the victim
and this subject. At some point during this fight, a shot was
fired striking the victim. The suspect then ran west across the
street and has not been located. The other subject drove away
from the scene and also has not been located.
Investigators have very limited information about the suspect in
this case. The only physical description known to police at this
time is as follows: White male, late 20s, approximately 5'07"
and 170 pounds. The suspect was wearing dark shorts with no
shirt on. It is believed he has tattoos on both arms and his
upper chest area. There is no description of the second subject
available.
With limited information in this case, investigators seek the
public's assistance in identifying both subject involved in this
homicide. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Mesa
Police Department at 480-644-2211 or Silent Witness at
480-WITNESS.
