DNA Links Suspect to Homicide

On August 16, 2011 at approximately 7:30 PM, the Mesa Police
Department made an arrest related to a stabbing homicide from
August 5, 2011. The homicide was at the Rawls Motel, 1310 W.
Main St. The arrest was the result of DNA evidence from the
scene linking the suspect to the crime. The victim, Johann
Ruekert, was pronounced dead at the scene from multiple stab
wounds. There were no suspects in the case until the DNA
evidence returned.
The suspect, identified as Christopher Adam Ross, 27, (shown
here in photo) was located at his residence in Apache Junction.
He was arrested and taken into custody without incident. He has
been booked on one count of first degree murder, one count of
burglary and one count of robbery. Ross has made no admissions
to his involvement in the homicide.
Although the suspect has been identified and arrested,
detectives are still following up on leads in the investigation.
