Two Weeks of Enhanced Enforcement for Start of School Year
August 9, 2011
The beginning of the 2011-12 school year will start tomorrow in
Mesa. In an effort to keep our kids safe, the Mesa Police
Department will have an enhanced enforcement effort during the
first two weeks of school. Officers will saturate school zones
and areas surrounding schools for traffic violations. The goal
is to get the school year off to a great start for both the kids
and drivers as well.
The cost of this added enforcement is being funded by a
grant from the Governor's Office of Highway Safety (GOHS). The
Mesa Police Department was fortunate enough to receive this
grant during a tight budget year. We would like to thank the
GOHS for recognizing the importance of getting our kids back to
school safely.
The Mesa Police Department would like to remind Mesa residents
and visitors who navigate Mesa's roadways to make an extra
effort to be safe while driving. Please be on the lookout for
children on their way to and from school, to make it possible
for all to arrive at their final destination safely.
