Mesa Police Request Assistance to Identify Robbery Suspect

The Mesa Police Department is seeking the public's assistance in
identifying a robbery suspect who may be linked in two Mesa
business robberies. On January 19, 2012, the armed suspect
entered Pizza Hut located at 9053 E. Baseline, Mesa, AZ and
verbally demanded money from the cashier. The suspect took an
undisclosed amount of currency and witnesses saw the individual
leaving in a vehicle. On January 22, 2012, a similar described
suspect from January 19 at Pizza Hut was seen entering a Subway
Restaurant at 1923 S. Signal Butte in Mesa. The suspect ordered
a sandwich and upon completion of the order the suspect pointed
a handgun at the cashier while verbally demanding money. The
suspect left in an unknown direction.
Witnesses from both robberies described a white male, appearing
to be 50 to 60 years of age, heavy set build, grey hair, grey
beard, and wore a dark T-shirt. Witnesses from the Pizza Hut
robbery reported seeing an older model white truck with a tinted
rear window. A black handgun was used by the suspect in both
robberies.
Surveillance video was collected from Subway and depicts a white
male similar to the witnesses description.
