  • Set your profile to be private; otherwise, anyone can access your personal information.
  • Encourage your friends to keep your information and photos private as well.
  • Limit the amount of personal information and photos you include on your page.
  • Never make your full name public; use only your first name or a nickname.
  • Use a non-identifiable, non-gender specific screen name and do not use provocative terms.
  • Never post your address, phone number, driver's license number, Social Security number, student ID number or your school name.
  • Remember that everything you post, including photos, is permanently on the Internet for ALL to see.
  • Never arrange to meet someone in person that you've met online, unless you take a friend or parent with you.
  • Do not open or download files or e-mails from people you do not know.
