Citizen Police Academy
Since 1991, the Mesa Police Department's Citizen Police Academy (CPA) has
provided members of our community with an inside look at law enforcement.
The CPA is designed to provide participants with an understanding of the
operations and resources of the Mesa Police Department. Participants will
interact with police executives and veteran officers during the academy. The
goal of the CPA is to provide a greater awareness and understanding of law
enforcement's role in our community.
This academy is NOT the
police recruit academy. Please visit our

to our police recruit academy.
The next session of the
Citizen Police Academy begins on September 4, 2013 and runs
through November 13, 2013. Classes are held on Wednesday
evenings from 6:30 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. at various locations.
There will be one Saturday class that is held at the Range.

Potential candidates for the Citizen Academy must meet the
- 19 years of age
- Reside in or be employed in the City of Mesa
- No prior felony arrests
- No misdemeanor arrests within one year of application

Alumni Association (MCPAAA):
Graduates of the Citizen Police Academy are eligible to join
the Mesa Citizen Police Academy Alumni Association. Alumni
members receive continued training and volunteer opportunities
with the Mesa Police Department. Additional information can be
