Mesa Police Department Trespass Enforcement Program

PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS PROGRAM IS CURRENTLY
FOR COMMERCIAL  PROPERTY ONLY.

Are you having problems with unwanted visitors on your business property?  We just might have a solution for you!

The Trespass Enforcement Program was created specifically for businesses to help with incidents of trespassing and loitering after the business has closed.

Download the authorization letter, complete the information and mail to the address on the form to register your property. You also have the option of filling out the request form using your computer, then print, sign and mail it in.

Once your completed Trespass Enforcement Request has been received, two stickers will be sent to you to place in visible locations on the property, so Mesa Police officers know you are participating in the program. 'No Trespassing' signs must be posted in highly visible locations on the property. The stickers do not take the place of signs.

Once your property has been registered with the Mesa Police Department and you have signs posted, an officer will then be able to trespass an individual from your property who does not have a legitimate reason to be there, without a property owner or manager present.  An arrest can also be made after the person has received one prior warning from a Mesa Police Officer.

IMPORTANT NOTE -- In order for rental properties to participate in this program, they must have a common area (clubhouse, basketball court, park or retention basin/s) that is for use by the residents. Only those areas will be covered by the Trespass Enforcement Request. Individual residences are not covered. Single family homes are also not covered because there is someone living on site who can call police when there are trespassers on the property.

PROPERTIES WITH MULTIPLE ADDRESSES

If you are registering a property with multiple addresses (i.e. shopping mall), be sure to list each individual address that is to be covered by the letter on the letter. For example, instead of 2260-2280 W StreetName,  list 2260, 2264, 2270, 2278, 2280 W StreetName.

Out-of-State Owners

If you are outside of Arizona and own property in Mesa, you must note on the Trespass Enforcement Request a local contact name, full mailing address and phone number as the stickers are mailed for placement. If no one is listed as a local contact, the stickers will be mailed to you and it will be your responsibility to post them on your property.
