Volunteer Opportunity
Diverse Skills Needed in Unique CAFV Position
Your administrative, interpersonal and childcare skills, as
well as your ability to tactfully handle sensitive information
and circumstances, will be essential in helping to administer
our Victim Assistance program. As a Victim Services
Assistant volunteer with our Victim Services Unit at
our Center Against Family Violence (CAFV), you will support the
Victim Assistance Volunteer Coordinator with administrative
tasks (including researching agenda issues; composing,
summarizing, editing, and disseminating information; maintaining
work and training schedules for Victim Assistance volunteers,
and related duties), interact with citizens, management, and
sworn/civilian staff on a variety of complex and sensitive
issues related to crime victims, and assist with caring for
children brought to the Center who are victims or accompanying
victims.
Desired Skills: Experience working with law
enforcement or the judicial system; bilingual in Spanish is
preferred; experience operating basic office equipment,
including a personal computer; ability to maintain strict
confidentiality, attention to detail and tact.
Special Requirements: Any combination of
training, education and experience equivalent to graduation from
high school or a G.E.D.; must be able to climb stairs; must be
able to pick up small children, up to 30 pounds; must be able to
work with diverse population; must possess a valid driver's
license.
Hours Needed: Flexible hours -- you
may choose any time between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
