The Point-In-Time Homeless Street and Shelter Count is an effort to learn more about the individuals and families experiencing homelessness in Maricopa County and the entire country. In order to accomplish local and federal goals toward ending homelessness, we first need to know who is experiencing homelessness, where they are, and better understand the factors surrounding their homelessness.
Volunteers are needed Tuesday, January 23rd, 2018 from 5:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. to survey individuals experiencing homelessness in Mesa, so they can be provided with programs and services that will best fit their needs. No prior experience with the Homeless Count is needed!
Volunteer training sessions will be offered prior to the Count:
- Wednesday, January 17th : 5:30pm at Fire Station 201, 360 E 1st St, Mesa, AZ 85201
- Monday, January 22nd : 5:30pm at Bethany Bible Church, 6060 N 7th Ave, Phoenix, AZ 85013
On the day of the count, an orientation will be hosted at 5:00 a.m. Then, volunteers will be sent out to their project location by 5:30 a.m. to begin the Homeless Count. Volunteers will be divided into groups of 3 to 4 people for each project location. Volunteers must be able to provide their own transportation to assigned area.
