Social Service Team

Social Service Program:

The Mesa Fire and Medical Department Social Service Team provides assessments and referrals to agencies within Mesa for individuals who have called 9-1-1 in crisis. 

Working in teams of two, the Social Service Team goes into the community and provides resources to help the person stay out of crisis.  Volunteer must be abel to effectively communicate with a variety of customers in stressful situations and/or during an immediate crisis.

The Mesa Fire and Medical Department Social Service Team is staffed by volunteers and interns from the Arizona State University School of Social Work.  THe team provides assistance in resourcing and networking in our community.
Becoming a Team Member:

  • Attend & complete an interview
  • Pass background check (fingerprinting and DMV driving record)
  • Attend Orientation/Training
  • Available for at least two shifts per month

Volunteer Hours:

Volunteers have the opportunity to choose weekday or weekend shifts to meet the flexibility of their schedules.  Volunteers always work with another volunteer, never alone.
