Electronics Recycling & Document Shredding Special Event - January 10, 2009

Mesa residents can bring their no longer needed electronic equipment (computers, monitors, printers, televisions, DVD players, VCRs, stereo equipment, PDA phones, etc.) and up to five boxes of personal documents to this free special event.  Event flyer (PDF, 1 page)

Christmas Tree Recycling Available Dec. 26-Jan.11

Mesa residents may recycle their Christmas trees at any of the five convenient locations throughout Mesa as part of the Christmas Tree Recycling Program now through Jan. 11, 2009.

Now Accepting Plastic Cups & Containers #1-7

Mesa residents may now recycle all plastic cups and containers #1-7 in the blue recycle barrel.

Paint Reuse Program Returns

Paint is now available through the Paint Reuse Program but inventory levels change daily.  Due to a high level of demand for paint, hold requests will not be accepted and available supplies will be distributed on a first come, first serve basis.

Digital Television Is Coming

If your television set has a digital tuner or you are subscribing to cable/satellite service, you should be ready to receive digital transmissions.

Recycle for Reading Program

For every additional pound of material Mesa residents recycle over last year’s total between July 1, 2008, and June 30, 2009, a direct contribution will be made to the library for the purchase of new library material up to a grand total $25,000.  For more information visit Recycle for Reading or watch the Recycle for Reading video.

Prescription drug disposal

New Federal prescription drug disposal guidelines urge residents to dispose of any unused, unneeded or expired medication in the trash or take them to a pharmaceutical take-back location for safe disposal.  Residents are being asked to avoid throwing them down the drain as the drugs may pass through sewage treatment plants and septic tanks into surface waters, soils, and the groundwater.

Plastic recycling now at East Mesa Service Center

Plastic cups & containers #1-7 and metal food cans are now being accepted at the East Mesa Service Center recycling drop-off location.  These items, along with glass bottles, may be dropped off in any blue barrel located at the site.  Visit drop-off recycling for more information.
