○ Falcon Field Airport partnering with Davcon Aviation, Mesa Hangar and GCON, Inc.
Nearly 400,000 square feet of hangar and office space that has begun construction on the northwest side of Mesa’s Falcon Field Airport is expected to help attract new jobs.
The development is inside an Opportunity Zone, specially designated by the U.S. Treasury Department to stimulate investment.
“This is just the type of investment Falcon Field and Mesa have needed to grow the aviation sector of our economy,” District 5 City Councilmember David Luna said.
The $60 million project is being managed by GCON, Inc., a regional construction management company. With current airport hangar occupancy nearing capacity, Airport Director Corinne Nystrom welcomes the build of “much-needed facilities.” The 23-acre development will offer significant opportunities for new and expanding aviation businesses.
“Aviation and aerospace are key industries in Mesa and contribute a great deal to our economy,” Mesa Mayor John Giles said. “Our talented workforce, quality infrastructure and customer-friendly business environment make Mesa an ideal choice.”
The hangars will feature S-1 Occupancy Type, with proposed uses including: FBO operations, corporate aircraft storage, helicopter operations, aircraft maintenance, light aviation manufacturing and assembly, and aerospace industry uses. Leading Edge Real Estate commercial brokerage has the leasing assignment for the development.
