Mesa Drive Improvements, 8th Avenue to Main Street

and Broadway Road, Wilbur to Lesueur

Project Schedule/Updates

UPDATE: March 2020

Phase 1 (intersection improvements):  Night work continues intermittently on underground utilities at the intersection of Mesa Drive and Broadway Road.  Night work will continue through the end of March 2020. 

Phase 2: Improvements to the east side of Mesa Drive from Broadway Road to Main Street and improvements to the north side of Broadway Road from Mesa Drive to Lesueur until mid-April 2020.      

  • Traffic on Mesa Drive continues to be shifted to the west side (southbound lanes) of Mesa Drive from Broadway Road to Main Street to begin improvements on the east side of Mesa Drive.  At the same time, traffic on Broadway Road will be shifted to the south side (eastbound lanes) of Broadway Road from Mesa Drive to Lesueur to begin improvements on the north side of Broadway Road. 

     

    • Crews continue removal and reconstruction of existing sidewalk, curb and gutter along Mesa Drive.  Installation of new sidewalk and driveway’s continue.
    • Crews continue the installation of new water, gas and sewer mains and service lines within phase 1 and 2. 
    • Crews continue the installation of new conduit for street lighting, fiber optics, poles and foundations. 
    • Beecroft (sub for Haydon) continues to install electric conduit to prepare for future underground power lines.
    • Installation of new storm drain mainline is complete on Broadway Road.  Laterals and catch basins will occur over the next several weeks.
    • Sturgeon (sub for Haydon) has recently installed new power poles along the north side of Broadway Road between Pomeroy and Lesueur.  Sturgeon will begin transferring existing overhead power to the new poles the week of March 9th, 2020.
    • Storm drain mainline is being installed at the intersection of 1st Avenue and Mesa Drive for the future 1st Avenue Improvements project between Hibbert and Lesueur.  This is expected to take place next week and will prohibit left turns in all directions at the intersection of 1st Avenue and Mesa Drive.           

Phase 3: Improvements to the east side of Mesa Drive from Broadway Road to 8th Avenue and improvements to the south side of Broadway Road from Mesa Drive to Lesueur, beginning March 9, 2020, until late July 2020.

  • Traffic on Mesa Drive will continue to be shifted to the west side of Mesa Drive from Broadway Road to 8th Avenue to begin improvements on the east side of Mesa Drive.  Traffic will be shifted to the north side (westbound lanes) of Broadway Road between Mesa Drive and Lesueur to begin improvements on the south side (eastbound lanes) of Broadway Road. 
    • Beecroft (sub for Haydon) will continue to install electric conduit on Mesa Drive, south of Broadway Road towards 8th Avenue to prepare for future underground power lines.
    • ATS (sub for Haydon) will continue to install conduit for new street lighting on Mesa Drive.
    • Crews will follow with removal and reconstruction of existing sidewalk, curb and gutter, and driveway’s.
    • Crews will also continue working on removal of existing walls and installation of new walls.      

Upcoming Street Closures/Restrictions:

  • Intermittent nightly closures, 7pm to 5am for underground utility improvements continue at the intersection of Mesa Drive and Broadway Road. 
  • Intermittent left turns will be restricted throughout the project.
  • Side streets will be closed intermittently throughout construction to complete improvements.
