The key to reducing the number of false alarm activations begins with alarm system education. Understanding your system and how it works will help reduce the number of alarm calls police officers respond to due to faulty systems or human error. You can help by:

  • Learning how to prevent a false alarm by attending an Alarm Awareness Class (dates below).
  • Reviewing the False Alarm Prevention Guide [PDF].
  • Contacting your alarm company to learn how to cancel a false alarm.
  • Reviewing the City of Mesa Alarm Ordinance 6-15 [PDF] to learn what your responsibilities are as an alarm user.
  • Calling the Mesa Police Department Alarm Unit any time you have a question.

Alarm Awareness Classes

The Mesa Police Department Alarm Enforcement Unit offers FREE Alarm Awareness classes. The free class includes:

  • How to prevent false alarms.
  • A $50 waiver certificate that can be applied toward an assessment.
  • The waiver can ONLY be used towards a False Alarm Assessment and used once per PERMIT year.
  • Alarm system basics and maintenance information.
  • Police officer response information.
  • A review of the alarm ordinance.

2019 Class Location & Schedule

Classes are held once a month in the evening.

Classes at the Fiesta Station are in the Community Room, 1010 W. Grove Ave.  

*Classes at the Superstition Station are in the Community Room, 2430 S. Ellsworth. *Due to limited seating, this location is for those who have received a False alarm Assessment only.  If you would like to attend a class for information only, please register for one of the Fiesta Substation classes.*

All classes begin promptly at 5:30 pm. If you arrive 10 minutes or more late, you will not be allowed in the class.
